“The Muppet clan was formed many moons ago on the 24th of May 2001 as a community of people who met while playing Starlancer online with a Sega Dreamcast. It served the purpose well in a time when dial up modems were cutting edge technology and helped them arrange games and generally keep in touch between dogfights. Happy days were those before facebook, friends lists, voice chat, online statuses and all the other myriad of stalking methods came to be.
Phantasy Star Online featured heavily in the clan’s early days stretching the limits of phone bills, insomnia and relationships and is always to be viewed as the “golden age” of muppetrey by the people who were there.
Anyway time and technology move on and the focus of gaming shifts with it. Ghost Recon provided many hours of waiting for a bush to twitch plus steel battalion took people to the depths of geekdom rarely visited by grown men. Both games provided significant chapters in this site’s history.
The clan has participated in and become part of the history of online console gaming and witnessed it change from a dubious niche pastime to a multi-million dollar mainstream entertainment behemoth. The clan has changed and adapted with the games that we play and the role of the website has changed with that. The ways in which we can keep in touch nowadays have negated the original purpose for the site but it still plays the role of a hub for its users and as a museum for past exploits.
Personally I`d like to mention that it remains a pleasure to still be in touch with all the people who play a part in this community after all these years and hopefully it will continue to evolve to our changing needs for many more years under the talented hands of demon.”
